Our famous Pilots "Free Flight" Atlas was established in 1998 as an app for iPhone and iPad. It offers detailed mapping with selectable aeronautical overlays, allowing you to create personalized charts with the information of your choosing. You can add positions and notes to the charts and easily share them with friends and colleagues.

The Atlas now provides increased functionality and global coverage, delivering an enhanced solution that strikes the perfect balance between land and sky. It offers custom-tailored charts and information, allowing you to create your own map style with various map layers and databases. Whether you're looking for aeronautical data, navigation aids, points of interest, or flight planning tools, this app has got you covered.

With the Pilots "Free Flight" Atlas, you can insert, store, and edit your flight routes using ICAO/IATA codes, waypoints, VORs, NDBs, or latitude/longitude coordinates. It also features a separate tool for finding positions by latitude and longitude.

Some notable features of the app include contour level visualization by color (in meters and feet), a vast database of over 185,000 waypoints, 72,000 airports, 75,000 navigation aids (VOR-DME, NDB, TACAN, VORTAC, ILS-DME), 10,000 points of interest (POIs), FIR boundaries, and special-use airspace areas (SUAs).

Additionally, the app supports ADS-B GDL90, SBS1, and online integration. It offers topographical maps, trip planning capabilities based on waypoints, VORs, airports, NDBs, ICAO/IATA codes, or coordinates. You can easily share, copy, invert or export your trips and manage them by editing or deleting individual trip points.

The app provides multiple chart options, such as planning charts, offline OSM maps, online MapBox maps, NASA Satellite maps from today and yesterday, and NASA City Lights maps. Detailed airport information is available, including runway length, elevation, ICAO/IATA codes, airport/city names, coordinates, frequencies, magnetic variation, and more.

Special features in the "Captains Corner" section offer a wealth of reference material for pilots. This includes an aviation converter/calculator for various units, weather symbols, turbulence information, VOLMET tables, SNOWTAM and METAR decoders, airport and navigation aid directories, waypoint directories, points of interest directories, TAF decoders, and much more.

Furthermore, the app allows you to connect an external GPS device for improved accuracy and convenience. You can also delete and re-download specific map areas as needed.

An additional weather overlay feature is available as an In-App Subscription with a 1-month free trial. The Weather-Layer is an annual auto-renewing subscription priced at $3.99 USD per year with a 30-day free trial period.

Please note that payment for subscriptions will be charged to your iTunes Account upon confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when purchasing a subscription. You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal in your Account Settings after purchase.
